When working on the Main Scenario quests you can gain a lot of experience points for your character (typically your main class). Here’s a list of tips for gaining experience points for other classes.

Fates by Level

• 1-12:
  • Western Thanalan, South of Horizon.
  • Central Shroud, Small radius around Bentbranch.
  • Middle La Noscea, Stay below the river.
• 13-20: Western La Noscea, Aleport Central & East areas.
• 21-30: South Shroud, Quarrymill and West of it.

• 30-38: Coerthas Central Highlands, radius around Dragonhead & South of it.

Hunts – lvl 50+

Use your Grand Company Squadron – lvl 1-60

• Do people make you anxious or angy? Would you like to play with NPCs instead? Up to lvl 60, you can!

• 1 to 5 runs per lvl.

Khloe’s Wondrous Tails Book – lvl 60+

• Weekly activity.
• Must be turned in to Khloe in order to get tons of exp!

Heaven on High – lvl 61-69

• 4 to 5 runs per lvl.

Bozja / Zadnor – lvl 71-80

• Skirmishes, Critical Engagements, Castrum Lacus Litore.

Duty Roulettes

• Stop Guildhests past lvl 10.
• One Frontline roulette is incredible exp, even if you lose!

Highest Level Dungeon

• After roulettes, running the highest level dungeon provides decent exp, with bonuses if your character level is much higher than the duty’s level.

Important Leveling Things to Know

Bonus EXP math is wonky!

• Normally a bonus EXP of: 15% + 3% = 18%
• Whereas FFXIV gives you: 100XP + 18% = 118.
  (e.g. 100XP + 15% + 3% = 118.45)
• Specific % EXP bonuses stack:
  + Food
  + FC/Squadron Buff
  + Rested
  + Mentor
  + Armoury
  + Server/Road to 80
  + Head, Chest, Gloves, Legs & Boots
  + Ring
  + Earring

Eating food gives you a 3% EXP bonus for 30m. Eat two for 1hr.

Free company actions provide an EXP bonus, when active.

• We activate our EXP Buffs on Thursdays (HoB II) and Saturdays (HoB III).
• Heat of Battle 2 = 10%
• Heat of Battle 3 = 15%
• Squadron Battle Manual = 15%

Rested EXP

• • Gained by resting or logging out in areas designated as Sanctuaries: around an Aetheryte as well as City-States.
• “Sanctuary Status” is indicated by a crescent moon symbol to the right of the experience bar.
• Rested EXP is shown as blue on your EXP bar.
• Rested EXP provides a 50% bonus to EXP gained from defeating enemies, synthesizing recipes, and gathering items.
• Rested EXP is consumed as a percentage of the bar, rather than a flat amount.
• It takes 7 days to gain a full bar of rested EXP, at which point no more will be accrued.

Mentor Buff

• lvl 20 and below.
• Party up as a Sprout and a Mentor.

Squadron Battle Manual

• When your squadron completes Infiltrate & Rescue you can get scrolls of 15% XP.
• Does override Heat of Battle!

Armoury Bonus

• Having another class at a higher level provides bonus XP for lower-level classes.
• It’s a 100% EXP increase from levels 1-79, but drops to 50% from 80-90. It also only applies to EXP earned through battle, be that on the field, in dungeons or during FATEs etc.

Road to 80 Buff

• If you create a new character on a Preferred Server.
• gives 100% bonus to all sources of EXP (calculated after applying any other bonuses) for 90 days.

Leveling Items & Their Buffs

Helm Of Light

• grants 20% EXP bonus, up to level 10.
• ARR Collector’s Edition.
• You can still get this if you upgrade your version of the game to the Collectors Edition through the moogle shop.

Friendship Circlet

• grants 20% EXP bonus, up to level 25.
• If you use the Recruit a Friend campaign (or were recruited).

Brand-New Ring

• grants 30% EXP bonus, up to level 30.
• At lvl 15 you can run the Hall of the Novice Training.

Real Money Shop

• grants 30% EXP bonus, up to level 30.
• There are certain outfits on the Mogstation (ex: High Summoner) that give you bonus EXP.

Aetherite Earring

• grants 30% EXP bonus, up to lvl 70.
• If you pre-ordered Shadowbringers.

Bozjan Earring

• grants 10% EXP bonus, up to level 80.
• Earned from completing the ‘Lost and Found IV’ achievement which is only available from the Bozjan Southern Front.
• You’ll also need 1,000 Forgotten Fragments appraised during your time there.
• If you have the gil to spare, and don’t want to grind fragments, buying Fragments of Tenacity, Skill and/or Awakening off of the MB works just fine.

Menphina’s Earring

• grants 30% EXP bonus, up to lvl 80.
• If you pre-ordered Endwalker.

Azeyma’s Earrings

• grants 30% EXP bonus, up to lvl 90.
• If you pre-ordered Dawntrail.
